A stately backdrop to your treetop Go Ape experience at Normanby Hall. With no two crossings the same, you’re going to have to work harder as you navigate your way through the trees. The Challenge course will test you with free falling Tarzan Swings, speedy zip wires and the ever-tricky stirrups and the Adventure course is higher than other Go Ape locations.

Elsham Hall Gardens and Country Park offers beautiful lakeside gardens, a contemporary walled garden, an adventure playground and a variety of animals and birds. Regular family events are held throughout the season including circus and magic acts, car shows, art exhibitions and open air theatre. Refreshments, snacks and afternoon teas are a specialty and served in the Secret Garden Tea Rooms.

Whether you are feeding the ducks that live in the visitor centre pond, or spotting the wading birds that visit the larger ponds and the Humber bank, you’ll find something of interest. Follow a series of walks around the ponds – taking you through reed beds, woodlands, and wildflower meadows. Children will love the two adventure playgrounds and interactive display.

Viking Way 01 Route - Barton on Humber to Barnetby le Wold

Explore the great outdoors and enjoy Lincolnshire’s scenic landscapes along the Viking Way. It is a long-distance walking route that spans from the banks of the River Humber all the way through to  Lincoln. There are various routes to take, one of which follows the Humber bank over to Elsham Wolds, before descending to the valley of the Skegger Beck and the railway junction town of Barnetby. The 01 route spans 14 miles starting from the Humber Bridge viewing area in Hessle.

Burton Constable Hall is a large Grade I listed Elizabethan country house, with 18th- and 19th-century interiors. Set in a park with an area of 300 acres it is perfect for all the family. They have a play area in the indoor riding school as well as a tea room so you can sit and enjoy homemade cakes and savouries whilst the children play. Dogs on a lead are welcome.

The Humber Bridge Country Park Local Nature Reserve is dog-friendly and is set amongst woods, meadows, ponds and cliffs. The tree covered chalk terraces of the old chalk quarry offer dramatic views over the River Humber and towering Humber Bridge. The 21-hectare reserve supports a varied range of wildlife, has a bird feeding station and each trail is distinctively waymarked with hand carved owls, rabbits and frogs to ensure you never get lost.

This exciting summer event, running from July to September, promises something for the whole family to enjoy. In the maze you will be challenged by quiz boards for adults and children, which will also help you navigate. There is also a large open play area with various other games and activities.

Twigmoor is 130 acres of native woodland and introduced shrubs, conifers and ornamental species which creates a rich and varied habitat for wildlife. The woods are owned by the Scawby Estate with public access allowed in certain parts, giving nearly 3 miles of paths open to the public. There are extensive areas of rhododendrons (which give a stunning display of blooms in late spring) and also a number of large lakes. Dogs are welcome as long as they are under control at all times.

Take a stroll around 130 acres of parkland in Hull's largest park, brave a ride on the Wicksteed splash boat, visit the Animal Education Centre, visit the new library at the Pavilion or enjoy afternoon tea in the Pavilion café. There are plenty of picnic areas, children's play areas and a new water play area with splash pad. Opening times for the water play area vary and may require booking in advance.
